Don Bosco In Dublin

We've been continuing the work of Don Bosco in Dublin since 1978 in response to the growing need for care and accommodation for young boys who were unable to live with their families. Initially there was one house on Gardiner Street which provided housing for up to sixteen boys. It soon became apparent that there was a need to expand our services and in 1985 a house at Nephin Road was opened to provide aftercare accommodation and support for young people who were leaving Don Bosco Teenage Care at the age of 18. Not long after, two more houses were opened on Clontarf Road in 1989 and on Blessington Street in 1991. With a high volume of boys coming into the care of the charity, there was a need to provide further aftercare service and in 1998 we opened a house on Phibsboro Road to provide aftercare support. In 2005, The Health Services Executive (HSE) identified the need for additional residential aftercare places and the response of Don Bosco Teenage Care was to open two houses – one on Fairview Strand and one on Ballymun Road in 2007. There is a good deal of organisation and management required an office to be set up and since 2006, we have operated out of All Hallows College.
